Oil Pressure

My engine is a 76 inline 6. The oil pressure starts out at 50 and after it warms drops to 25, whats the normail pressure? I a mjust curious on how mine is doing.

Not sure on specifics but you have nothing to worry about. Oil pressure is always higher when cold and then lowers as the oil thins and metal expands. Believe it or not engines do not require a whole lot of oil pressure to survive. Some engines designed in the 50's and before ran great, for many years, with around 5lbs. at idle and say 20 or so out on the road.

Mine runs at 56-58 psi at startup, about 43-45 psi at 2000rpms, and about 17-19 psi at 600 rpms hot. This is with 10w30 Shell Rotella T.

The ford books spec. that 40-60 psi at 2000rpms is normal.

your pressure is fine i would not worry.

your fine, i run Rotella 15w40 and cold i get 55, hot idle at 550 i get 13 hot runnin down the road i get 45-50
