ok folks--- as per my last post, i said that i was looking at a pair off '77 4x4's. well today i went to look at em. boy are they ROUGH! i have a few questions though. the guy tells me that they are both 77's. now dont all 'highboys' have that distinctive front crossmember that hangs below the bumper? both of these DO. moreover, one of them has a 400-2V V8 and an auto and a dana 24 case. werent the dana cases discontinued after 72? a true 77? should have a 205 or a 203 this truck also has a factory overload spring. in addition, it has the heavy duty 3550 lb rated dana 44. is this a 77 or what? the vin tag on the door says 1977.
the other truck is really bad. however, it has an unusual front axle. it has a heavy duty 44 but get this--its CLOSED KNUCKLE!!!! it DOESNT have the power assist ram but it has a steering stabilizer?? is this a factory setup??? in addition, the rear leaf packs are 9 leaves WITHOUT an overload. the funny thing with this truck is that it has a 205 case!! guys help me out here--what do i have?? the guy also threw in a 1967 F350 crewcab 2WD free of charge--has a 352 and an auto----I DIDNT WANT IT but i said OK...are these crewcabs rare?? final price for all of this is.....$400 bucks.....did i goof?
thanks again fo those who reply!!!
