Taking on my boss's Chevy truck

As nice as my boss is, he has a major flaw and that is that he's a hardcore Chevy truck fan (I guess no one's perfect). He's been rebuilding his 68 Chevy Truck with a big block engine (I believe it's a 427). He's rebuilding it with 9.5 CR pistons, aluminum heads, forged internals, cam, and the motor is pretty much modded out.

He challenged me to a race after I get my truck finished. I was thinking about rebuilding my 400 modeled after the Hot Rod article but since I don't have a garage or the tools to rebuild the engine myself, I decided to go about it in a different way.

I have been doing some research, and I found that 460s produced between 68 to 71 had 10.5 CR with the "DOVE" heads and the rebuilt long block costs about $1200. So here are my questions.

1. How much do the big block motor mounts for 78 F250 cost?

2. Will any 460 fit my truck or do I need a 460 produced in a certain year?

3. Will a Holley Avenger 670CFM carb be enough for the 460?

4. What will be the best cam to run with the 460? I don't plan on towing or hauling.

5. Can I use pump gas with 10.5 CR? My boss will be running on the pump gas.

6. What's the stock power ratings for 68-71 460?

Thanks for all your help.

From an auto wrecker $20-30
From an aftermarket place $110

All 429's and 460's are the same when it comes to mounting

YES

AN RV Cam

Premium only sometimes with Octane Booster

>6. What's the stock power ratings for 68-71 460?

68-71 429 2V = 320 HP/4400rpm
68-71 429/460 4V = 360HP /4400rpm
