Can a 2.5L change to a 3.0L by adding performance to it.

I have a 2000 Ranger that is a 2.5L stock. Since then I installed a K&N FIPK Intake and a APC performance muffler. I know I have to have some horsepower. So is it possible to have now a 3.0L, and if I have a 3.0L, can I install parts that are a 3.0L instead of 2.5L . I like to install a Granatelli Mass Airflow Sensor next, but it says for only 95-02 Ford Ranger 3.0 Liter. Please I need to know if I can do this.

Nope. The 2.5L and 3.0L are the displacements of the engine. They don't change (without major modification) period. Your 2.5L will always be a 2.5L, even if it produces more horsepower than a 3.0L.

Nope, it's still a 2.5. Also note that that the K&N and the expensive MAS will show you that horsepower only at open or near-open throttle where there is actually a use for that extra air flow.

Actually, with the Lima 4 cylinders, those head intake ports are sooooo lousy in terms of flow, NO filter will help that. Only a port/polish job.

Swapping MAF sensors isn't a good thing either. They have to be tuned to the specific engine they are used on.

An engine is only as good as it's worst bottleneck, as I pointed out above.

Yeah that is one of the big things with the 2.5L and older 2.3L also I believe, their intake ports are this ridiculous design that basically gives up what power the engine could have produced.
