Installing Filter on 6 Speed

Was crawling under truck today and noticed that the 6 speed has a cooler just like the autos. Question is would the pump in the tranny have enough ump to 1 run it through a filter kind of like what SpringerPop has for his auto and 2 think it needs a bigger cooler as all it has is the one in the radiator. Have heard of guys frying the ATF in there 6 speeds by towing huge 5th wheels.
Thanks

also my cuzin has a cummins and a 5 speed, with gauge, and he said it will go to 250* pulling his GN. but it doesn't have a cooler.

Kind of thought that. Boy he is the Man. I have always hated them darn old chimes on all my Fords. Talked to the mechs at work and the Ford Shops all said if you disable the chimes your lights won't work. Well so now who's the Boss?
You know SP you have some great sayin's like, "I'll bet if anyone has kicked the tires on this one, it's Kwik"
But you know the one that says it all is in your Signature, "Striving to be the person,
that my dogs think I am".
I don't think any of us get any where near 1/2 close to that.
Anyway it's just a thought about the cooler and filter.
Thanks Guys,
LPR

Thanks for the Link Dieselrod.Wow Stainless Braded Lines. Don't know if I like the way he plumbed it, putting tee at inlet and out let that way only half the fluid will go through either the filter or the cooler. I was thinking putting the filter in line ahead of cooler so as to clean before goes in. But guess you'd have to keep an eye on it to make sure it didn't plug and then would not get cooled. Anyway thanks for the link.

The guy whose Webshots page that is, HAS to be a man after my own heart, as he too, uses Baldwin filters. I've been using them for about 45 years, since I was a kid.

Sometimes stainless, braided, is the best thing for the application. They average around $30 a piece to have custom made, but they should last a lifetime if you get the right ones. I just had Orme Brothers in Northridge, CA make up a couple for my bypass setup. I was dealing with high pressure, high temperature, and a possibly hostile location, so I didn't want to take a chance of bursting one and losing my lube oil in the middle of the boonies. That would cost even more! ;-))) The lines in his pictures sure look like they would be vulnerable to snagging on something, however.

Be sure to pick a filter that has a built-in pressure bypass, so if it does get clogged you still have flow through the cooler. The Baldwin he picked has an 18 to 20 psi bypass pressure. He picked an unusual filter base to use, so I'd contact him and ask why before I duplicated this one. It's very large ports in and out, so he had to use pipe bushings to "neck it down" to usuable size. Maybe it's just what he had laying around.

I would also run it in series with the cooler, rather than the way he did it, in parallel. There's certainly nothing wrong with the bypass concept, eventually it should catch just about everything, but the oil is going to follow the path of least resistance, and that will be through the cooler. He's going to get VERY little flow through the filter this way.

SpringerPop, Was thinking the very same things Those lines are a snag waiting to happen I feel that running the lines where you did up out of the way is way better. I was thinking of not only Mirroring your set up but adding a secondary cooler. I can have the Heavy shop at work make up the hoses. They don't have the SS but they would be made of Hydraulic grade hose like on a tractor uses on its rams. Also looks like he had to add a heat shield to the exhaust. Well atleast I know it can be done now.
