this is my first post in the older truck section. i am a diesel man but i need to find some information for a friend. i was woundering if anyone knows where i can get an air cleaner assembly for a 1942 ford dump with a flathead V8. any information is helpful to me.
Check out eBay. It'll be your best bet for finding one and for a low price. These oil bath air cleaners are not worth a whole lot, so you can find them pretty easily. I have seen them for about $5-$40, depending on conditions. Use search terms such as "flathead air cleaner" "ford oil bath" etc. You should find a few listings. Hope this helps you out.
Most of the '40's era cleaners would work, Ford lists a few different numbers for the cleaners used in the '42 trucks, most are interchangeable with the passenger cars. The only really different one was used on COE trucks.
