The Allman Bros are one of my favorite groups. I have all their albums. I got to see them once before Duane died. Great music that will live forever. I like Whipping Post & Mountian Jam a lot.
Can't go wrong with ZZ Top or The Allman Brothers. Heard a great cover of Whipping Post last night in Huntington WV, by American Minor at their CD release party. Best real rock'n'roll band to come along in years. www.americanminormusic.com or www.myspace.com/americanminor.
Hey guy's, CMT did a story on "Southern Rock" Dwayne Allman did a lot of incredible stuff. Before the Allman Brothers, there was the, not in any particular order, The Allman Joy's, Hour Glass, 31'st of Feburary, Second Coming. All had Dwayne as the master mind, and Gregg was singing in a few of those bands. The songs from the bands I just mentioned would blow your mind!! Don't forget the Dwayne Antology #1 & #2. He layed the guitar work for Derick and The Dominoes (Eric Clapton) on "Layla" in a Miami studio. If you are truly a SOUTHERN ROCK fan, try to find when CMT shows SOUTHERN ROCK again. Truly amazing the influence it played in a President.

not to hi-jack the thread, but fordguy76, I remember you posting a link to your band's myspace awhile back (2.5-3 months ago) and I went and looked at it, then July 9th, my band played a show in Indianapolis, Indiana. Well, on the way back home, we stopped in at this little convenient store, and back by the bathrooms, I looked at the flyers on the wall, and lo and behold I saw a 'Jakeleg' flyer. BTW, I live down in southern West Virginia. I thought it was really cool, I was flipping out when I saw it...lol..but anyway, didn't mean to hi-jack the thread, just trying to get a message to him.
The Allman's ROCK! If you're really into them, make sure you check out The Live at Fillmore East album. Duane plays a wicked slide solo on "Don't Keep Me Wonderin' " . The Wife and I saw them last month, they're getting up there, but they still jam. They played for almost three hours!
