I have a 40 on my 5.4 and it is not as loud as I thought it would be. I have a stock set up, I just replaced the stock muffler with the 40 and removed the resonator. I like it but wish it were louder.....Hmmm time to spend some more $$$$! LoL

Mine sounds sweet!!!!

take off your muffler and replace it with a straight pipe and if you want it even louder loose the resonator too. Fords have 2 cats so they dampen a lot of the noise so they can be run without mufflers and not being loud enough to be trouble.

tunable muffler noise?

How about a strait pipe through a cutoff valve? I found this neat exhaust switching thing - basically a Y-pipe with a flapper controlled by a choke style control lever. Was thinking of keeping the stock pipe and adding a strait pipe out the other side of the truck - matching tip. It would look like dual exhaust, but have the choice of quite or noisy running.

A buddy of mine did that with his Bronco in the 90's sounded good. Only problem is NY has a yearly inspection and a muffler is required.

You sure it will fly with your mom? You might want to ask first.
