hello today i noticd as my mm (im 16) left the drive way i heard a loud ticking noise i havnt had time to go under it and see if any shroudes are loose but will soon as i can get a day off adn am not so tierd any ideas? OH YEAH am lookin at a super 40 series muffler on stock pipes has anyone done it if so how was it
no its not rocks because the tires are bare and rocks cant even go in the tread. it sounds like somethings hitting on a thin piece of metal like a ticking noise when it takes off
Hmmm.... 2wd or 4wd? If it's 4wd then it could be the CV joints going bad in the front CV shaft, that would be a lot worse when turning though.
Does it tick at a constant speed? Does it speed up with engine revs, or with ground speed? Where does it sound like it's coming from? You might need to walk beside the vehicle to listen while your mom pulls out of the driveway.
it could be the parking brake shoes because our drive way is a pretty nice slope and we put the parking brake on before we let off the brakes adn it always makes a slipping noise when we let off the brake like the parking brake isnt working anymore. is theere a waay to test it. maybe i could drive it and press the parking brake would it make a noise than?
My '03 Expy makes a ticking noise when the A/C compressor is running. My friend's '04 Expy and my mother's '04 Navi make the same noise when the A/C is running. It's just a constant ticking. Try turning the A/C off when you hear that noise and see if the noise goes away. If it does, then it's probaby the A/C compressor. It doesn't hurt anything, just odd the first few times you hear it. But hey, as hot as it has been, I'm just glad my A/C blows ice cold lol.
Just take off a rear tire and pull off the disc. If the parking brake shoes are broken like mine were, they will just fall out. Or you can also just spin the disc and hear it banging around. It was the "pad" that seperated from the shoe.
The parking brake shoes work seperatly from the rear disc brakes. They dont work off the caliper. They just run off the cable like any other parking break.
It's the axle nut "castle nut cap" on your front wheels... take off the center cap and it's right there.
Remove the cotter pin, pull the cap straight off (do not take the nut loose), bend the cap a little to oval it out just a but, tap it back on and install a new cotter pin.. WHAMMO all fixed.
I think you all may have missed the possibility of the exhaust manafolds being cracked. My truck sounded the same and then got quiet after it got hot.. Then it got louder and louder and the dealer found the rusted out exhaust manifolds.. Oh btw.. don't let them tell you they need to lifte the body from the frame.. that is bunk, BS, HS and everthing else kind of S!!!! my dealer ( the good one) did it in 2 hours of labor manifolds redrilled andtapped new bolts in to the heads etc.. right on the vehicle ..
