I have been hunting steel running boards to fit my 47 1/2 ton to no avail.
I see fiberglass boards advetised for these trucks.
Any of you guys or gals running these boards on your trucks?
Are they any good?
Do they hold up?
I drive AND use my trucks so am looking for a quality product. Thanks.
I'm running "plastic" ones I bought about 7 years ago. They were heavy and solid (lots of glass). Bought them from Obsolete Ford or someone like that at Carlilse Swap. Hell, it sucks to get old!
They are solid and really can't tell difference. Ribbed top and strength supports underneath. Think I paid about $450 for the pair back then. Installed then about 2 years ago.
46Achers, It looks like your about 75 or 80 miles from New Alexandria, PA. There is a guy that deals in used 46-47 parts. www.antiquetrucks4sale I don't know what all he has because I've never been there. You may already know about this place.
My running boards were rotted away. I cut off the good part that wrapped up under the cab. I had a muffler shop bend a piece of 1 1/2 tube in the shape of the outboard edge. Then I used flat sheet metal to make a new insert. (You could used ribbed metal here.) Then I painted and had them Line-X coated. Total cost was minimal. Whada ya think?
