I am having a little bit of trouble with converting the front suspension over to a mustang 2. Here is the problem that i am having. I have a cross member that came out of a 1/2 chassis. It is for a 28" frame. Well the chassis on the 1 ton measures 32" on the outside. So i thought that i would cut the crossmember into and add 4" to it. That wouldnt be any trouble, but then it comes to the a-arms. Well by adding 2" per side it moves my track width out to 60" instead of the 56". And the tubular a-arms can not be shorten 2" because of all of the problems it will lead to. Another thought is to cut the frame off and add a front clip, but the frame is in great shape, is pretty thick and stirty, and has all of the factory holes there.
First of all, welcome to FTE! We hope you enjoy this place and find it usefull.
Never messed with a Mustang clip, but I can tell you that the F-1 frames are the same width as the older 1 tons; 32" on the outside. So so maybe an F-1 crossmember would fit. I can find out the height of the frame to see if those is close. Hope you find a solution.
