altenator problems

I guess I should be a little more specific. I have a 99 Expedition XLT. My Battery indicator is on and the altenator is not outputting. At first the light would come on only during hard acceleration. Now, 2 altenator rebuilds later the light stays on and the battery dies. This rebuild lasted approximately 6 weeks. Any ideas.

An ol' redneck named Jonny who has an auto electric shop in my home town. He has rebuilt it twice. I'm going to take it back to him. Is there anything that can damage the altenator or do you think he is doing a substandard job?

If he doesn't have a way to load test the alternator, he may not be able to tell if it has a weak rectifier or regulator. If he replaces all of the electrical components each time, I don't have an answer except you may have to try a new one instead. Also, you should check all of the connections to make sure you don't have a wire grounding out.
