alright i have two questions
1st do you need the support tube bracket thing on the passenger side of the engine that connects to the upper intake manifold and a bolt on the exhaust manifold?
2nd my engine always dies when i put it in reverse after its been in drive what vacuum line causes this?
any feedback would be great thanks
that support for the upper intake, I would leave on there, if you dont do any 4 wheelin more than likely you wouldent have a problem, but if you do, with that intake being alumium and being top heavy it could crack at the bolt flanges over time. I dont know about the reverse problem, is it a AOD? I am having a simular problem but mine dies when backing up under throttle and when I let off the throttle it dies, I dont get any codes and have changed the IAC, TPS and have a new 56mm bbk TB on there, now I'm starting to look at fuel pressure, so if you figure it out please post it on here and I'll do the same... good luck
my trans is the electronic overdrive E40D i think its called. is there any other place i can i can support my intake casue i got headers and i got the stage 8 locking header bolts so i dont have to go back and tighten the bolts once a month
The only thing that I can think of is to make a custom bracket and mount it to the valve cover bolt, you could change the center outside bolt for a stud and double nut it. I'm sure people have run into this problem befor, have you posted in the exhaust forum?
thanks for the help i figured out i can make a bracket to reach a bolt hole in the frame so im gonna do that. im just stuck on the transmission prob now
I haven't run the manifold-to-manifold support bracket between intake and exhaust since I installed Bassani short headers. Been off-road and through all sorts of situations and never had a problem.
The E4OD is completely electronic in its operation. No vacuum is supplied to it like the older C6 transmissions that had vacuum actuated regulators. The AOD uses a TV (throttle valve) cable for this operation so again, no vacuum regulator.
Reverse applies an extra gear so the drag put on the engine is marginally more than in forward gears. Do you ever have problems with it dying or losing noticable RPM's when the A/C is on or you go through "hard-over" steering maneuvers? What is your "in gear" idle RPM?
my idle RPMs in gear is 600 thats the best i can get with timing. the rpms drop low and rev up then back too low so it dies when i put it in reverse, also sometimes when i turn hard it will die or when i do a quick stomp on the throttle then brake it will die. i know the rpms idleing should be about 750 so im probably gonna buy the diablo chip for my truck but dont have money to get it. my mods are in my sig i think it may be the cams that cause my rpms to be a little lower with the timing. i still have speed density
