I am doing research for a computer game we are making here in the UK and wanted to know if any of you had the specification for a 1940 Ford Pickup 1/2 Ton? I am especially interested in the dimensions, weight, wheel size, tyre size, 0-60, top speed, redline, gear ratios etc.
Whilst I am here I am also looking for the above info on the following cars:
1970 Ford Ranchero GT 429 1971 Bronco 302 V8
2002 Ford Ranger SVT Lightning Bolt Concept
2004 Ford SVT Lightning Concept Truck 2004 Ford F-150 Lightning 2005 Ford Ranger FX4 Level II 2005 Ford F-150 FX4
If you don't know what might be helpful is directions to a website that might.
Many thanks for your time and I llok forward to your replies (if I get any).
Alan,
Well, if I remember correctly, 0 - 60 was about a minute. Faster if you were going down a hill and the brakes wore out. Aerodynamics was that of a brick. Top speed was about 75 - 80 mph. Redline about 3800 rpm's. Wheel size were about 550 X 16".
Nah - just snooping. I may have finally found what I'm looking for in Amarillo, TX. I'm headed up to look in a couple of weeks. Guy is holding it for me til then. I may still be interested in yours though. Hope all is going well. Did you get that camera yet??
I am still looking for dimensions and torque figures, anybody have these?
Are you sure the wheelbase was 114". I have checked another website and they list the 1940 as 112" wheelbase. They have the 1941 - 1949 wheelbase as 114".
Thought I was done with this truck but I have one more question regarding the 1940 1/2 ton Pickup.
Does anybody know what colours the pickup was available in? I have a 1939 & 1940 colour chart but no definitive colour list. Can anybody help? Paint codes would be a massive help.
Your best bet would be to contact your local paint supplier. there weren't too many colors, but I know like "Gull Grey' and Princeton Orange with blackfenders were some of the popular combos.
But a paint supplier like Dupont or PPG should have a resource for Paint codes for you.
Unfortunately I don't live in the US and I will probably get blank expressions if I ask somebody here in the UK.
I have looked on the colour chip charts I have and Gull Grey and Princeton Orange are not on it. For the greys I have Newcastle Gray, Feather Gray, Rotunda Gray and the closest orange is Vermilion.
Here is a little info from an old 1940 Ford Article titled "1940 Ninteen Forty.." that was four pages long and contained 13 photos (including 1940 Ford Five Window Business Coupes, DeLuxe Tudor, Convertible, Sedan Delivery, and Woody DeLuxe Station Wagons etc.) plus there were ten paint chips selections for the 1940 Ford listing these colors: Folkstone Gray, Cloudmist Gray, Mandarin Maroon, Acadia Green, Garnet Maroon, Sahara Tan, Como Blue, Lyon Blue, Yosemite Green, and Cotswold Gray. Hope this is of some help, Bob
