Ok I want to put a crossover or an x pipe in my exhaust system BUT I have to use fender well exit headers, I don’t really want to route my pipes under the frame rails, if I high center I will most definitely crush my pipes, I’m thinking if I route between the frame and cab I wouldn’t be able to sit in there for long (noise) plus the rubbing it would cause, I was thinking maybe cutting holes and welding in some thick wall tubing thru the frame rails. The big but here is the last time I welded on the frame (my last truck) these spots became prone to cracking (then again the opinion of some was that I made my frame too stiff and didn’t allow for enough flex, the entire frame was boxed)
I was wondering about this myself, not having a body lift leaves little room, if there were a body lift though you could just flatten a section of pipe a little bit and put that between the frame and body from the outside of the frame to the inside. I have heard that the x-pipe and balance tube help quite a bit in different areas
let us know what you come up with if you do
Why not run a 3" balance tube, or a 3" and 2" parrallel. The 3/2 combo would only have 19% less cross sectional area than running a 4" pipe. 2 3" tubes would be bigger than a single 4", but maybe that doesn't matter?
