Finally! Sure, bb's work but they eventually rust and you have to break the tire off the rim to put them in. Equal sucks in the long run; clogged valves stems or waiting forever to air down if you use their stems, and eventually it WILL clump. Centramatics don't make units for our rims that cover bigger than 35" tires. What to do?
If you click on products, it lists price. If I remember it works out to be between 10-20 bucks per tire depending on how much you need for your tire size. Pretty cool stuff, huh? For as long as the equal type products have been around I'm surprised it took them thing long to come up with this stuff. But now that its here I'm happy in pants
Dayum! Too cool. I had no balance on the Swampers before the beadlocks and they were still perfectly smooth but I haven't had a chance to test them at speed on the beadlocks. I'm hoping they'll still balance fine because I'd rather not spend another 4 hours pulling those apart to put balancing media in but if I DO have to I'll buy these. Thanks for the link!
What you want is a 1-2mm ceramic bead. You can also use stainless steel beads. Try a grinding media supply house before you pay big $$$ for a few ounces of beads. You can get tubing and an old ketchup squeeze bottle most anywhere.
Does silicone eat away at rubber? you could just put in the steel bb's w/ some silicone oil and be done w/ it... or pay 60 for the ceramic units....whatever.
Anti-freeze actually helps keep your bbs from rusting too.
Fishy, rusting actually does become a problem pretty quick. Even with the coated bb's, the coating wears off quick and they're left in a hot, humid enviorment that is ideal for promoting rust. Then you get your bb's sticking together, etc. Bb's work pretty good, and the rust isn't a HUGE issue, but I like the idea of the ceramic ones...plus you don't have to break your tire down to get them in. A huge plus for many people.
I had never thought of using blasting medium, Torque, thats another good option.
hmmm, i guess i never saw it is a big deal! why could you just use round lead weights like for fishing? they don't rust and they won't clump as bad as steel would. i dunno, but it sounds like something good to experiment!
