4 Wheel Drive Parts store lawsuit??

i was on another Forum when i came across this, i figured i oughta post it here since a few people on here might end up going there........

http://www.nissanforums.com/showthread.php?t=88361

yeah i know, i know, what the hell am i doing on a nissan forum, well, i bought a 87 4x4 pathfinder, and i figured id better ask questions about it on there so i dont get flamed for being a traitor on here!!! at least it gets me 20mpg and i still have 4wd to get my dirtbikes to the good riding places......and since i drive a vehicle that gets 20+ mpg, i can spend all the money saved on my daily driving on my 3 Fords!!

Doesnt shock me, every truck forum I have been on lots of people had horror stories from them. One of my cousins got a set of xterrains from them and they never showed up. He called and they said that the couldnt deliver them because his shipping address listed was different than the billing address. They took his money and didnt say anything about it and never contacted him. They actually had a seperate shipping address form that he filled out at order time, if they dont ship to a different address why list it, and then why charge him if they were not going to ship it out. He canceled the order and they charged him a 15% restock fee like he returned them. I dont think he ever got his money back.

as long as you wheel with a couple of the counter people that work there they will not screw you. but I would never have anyone of them work on my rig nor would I just call up the 800 number to buy anything from them. I talk to people I know.

I walked up to the counter with a milk crate full of broken parts before. The manager was a little ****ed but warrenteed everything even knowing how I was abusing D44 parts with 38.5x14.50 sx swampers under a 78 bronco.

*edited to add*

He was happy to see me go to a Dana 60 front. About 3 weeks after I got the warn hubs I returned them, broken of course. He shook his head and walked away when the counter boy exchanged them for me.

I do know that they dont require you to have any experience to become a lift installer....they had an ad in the local paper for a mechanic, i called and asked about the details, they train you in one week and the pay is 10-12 dollars an hour....i didnt take the job because i didnt have a big enough tool set......i started thinking about it later, i wouldnt want some guy thats only been doing this work for a week or more installing ANYTHING on my vehicles, especially when he is only getting 12 bucks an hour, that pay is not enough incentive for anybody to care about their work....thats why true mechanics get paid 65-100 bucks an hour labor, because you need experience AND incentive to do a job properly and be 100% sure of the safety end of things.......

65-100 bucks an hour were sign me up, heck the shops around here only charge 60/hr, and I gaurentee the mechanic doesn't get anywhere near that amount (trust me thats why I no longer work as a mechanic even though I am ASE master auto tech, and CCT journeyman level) when a shop charges 100/hr most likely the tech will be lucky to get 20-25/hr in a real good shop after 10yrs of employment, 25% of shop rate is considered real good pay

yeah ok, i wasnt thinking about that end of it, i forgot about the shops percentage.... i was going on what a few shop owners i know charge according to the labor books they have....when you own the shop i guess there isnt a percentage you have to pay....lol........even 25 bucks and hour is more incentive to care about the work you perform........BTW: i have seen mechanics bills here in oklahoma city top 100 bucks an hour for labor, thats why everyone i know comes to me with their mechanical problems, talk about a curse!!! i am thinking about getting ASE certified, i dont want to be a mechanic in a garage, I want to find a custom automotive shop where i can work everyday restoring old cars and trucks for people with big bucks that want to spend 'em, i could do that for the rest of my life!!!!!

That place is for the web wheelers! Just think....after those folks get tired of their trucks that were outfitted by 4wp, you can buy the parts that werent messed with at a cheaper cost.

I have always had problems with them. They have no clue as to what they are doing. I bought the lift for my truck from them, 6 inch superlift. I was told to bring it back after I installed it and they would align it for free. I took it there and they did a horrible job, ended up paying les schuab to do it. Oh yea they could believe I could put that lift on a my house by myself. Like its really that hard. It's about time they get in trouble with the law.

Usually, yes, but in this case the coin is pretty one sided. They have pretty much the worst track record in the business and there are thousands of wheelers who won't do business with them. Including me.

i agree, the first time i went there, i was trying to find out what the gawd-awfull clunking noise in my F-250 snow fighter was......i had one of their mechanics look at it, i drove it back and forth in the parking lot so he could hear the noise while looking under it, when done, he told me my front axle was toasted and that he had a Dana 44 he would sell me for 1200 bucks with exchange!!! i didnt know much about my truck then, but i KNEW the dana 60 already in it was way better than a 44 anyday, so i told him where he could stick his D44.....turned out nothing was wrong with my front axle, the noise was my Tcase chain slipping....talk about someone trying to pull off a con on an unsuspecting customer.....
