Arrow 88150 2X2/4X4 what front suspension?

i have a 88150. plan on getting a NP203, since Dana 20 t-cases require 500 dollar adaptor kits for the C6. I know what I need to do Driveshaft wise, but what kinda front suspension do I get? Dana 44's dont fit i think, and are expensive. should I just look for a Donor Truck in a junkyard for the Tcase, driveshafts, and front axle, or what? I dont like the idea of getting stuff from junk yards. Dana 44's might fit i dont know, havent really looked in to that.

you have a 2wd, and you want to switch it to a 4wd?

Get a donor truck F150 4x4, anything from 80 to 96 is good, but avoid 87-88 4wd. Everything will bolt up.

Dont TTB it. There are several places that sell kits, and you can fab your own to do either coils or leaves and a Dana 44 out of like a 78-79 ford bronco or 73-79 Ford Truck. why np203? You can use an NP208, since that is the case that came in your truck(well 4wds like yours) or run a np205, they are easy to find and bolt right up.

nothing wrong with the TTB, unless you're going to wheel the crap out of it.

bigsilver, its not 4wd, thats why im getting a t-case and wondering what kinda front suspension ill need. also i thought 203's has a lower 4lo gear.

I'll prolly end up getting a truck out of a junk yard and use the front suspension, t-case, and driveshafts. hopefully i can find a totaled 80-96 4X4 for cheap. after i get all the 4X4 goodies off it, ill either take the rest of it apart and sell whats left of the truck on e-bay or take it to a scrap yard when im done with it im not sure.

203's have lower gears, but are big, heavy, and generally less desirable. It is just easier to go with a 205, or 208.

203 are only .03 lower than a 205 but the np 208 is .61 lower than the 203, and the BW is lower yet. But the biggest thing I am noticing here is no mention of what this truck will be used for that would make a lot of difference in recommendations, also what other mods have you done, I know atleast the tranny since you say the C6, and that shouldn't hve been in a 88 F150 anyway.

here's the deal on the t-case. the 203 just isn't practical for any use anymore unless you are gonna use it in front of a 205 and run a doubler. the 203 is big, heavy, bulky, the low gear isn't that great, it's a full time case, and it's chain driven. i would go with a 205 LONG before using a 203 unless you want that low range gears, then i owuld go with a 208. they are light, have a great crawl ratio and considering they are relatively tough as nails... esp behind a slushbox. i just broke my 208 about 3 months ago or so and that was from beating the living **** out of it for the past few months. i also didn't ever put any gear oil in it cause i knew it was getting ready to go. i would tell you to go with a 205, but not everyone needs one not to mention they are damn near 200 lbs!

if i were you i would stick with an np208 ESP if you run TTB front and auto tranny. it held up to welded front and rear, 460, C6, and 39" Iroks.

i would use the front susp setup out of a 77-79 ford...grab the 44 front, steering, trac bar and bracket, and radiues arms and brackets, get the coils and coil buckets too, i like the 79 style much better than the ttb buckets, youl have to use monobeam coils with them though

if he has a 2wd, and an auto he probably has a slip joint, and if you can get ahold of a t-case with a bolt on yolk you are better off, and would be better off finding a 3/4 or 1 ton drive shaft, adn having that cut down to length unless you get lucky, and find one that is the correct length to start with, but if you end up with a np208 that has the slip joint output then yeah use your current shaft, adn have it shortened.

Yeah i understand what your saying. but if i find a 80-95 4X4 150 in a junk yard thats regualr cab and longbed, like mine, i'll just use his driveshafts and tacse, and front suspension. every thing should bolt right up. what do you guys think the average price on a 80-96 150 in a yard.
