ok well my 1994 f150 302 is getting a little tired so i been loking for a new block and i think i found one for a good price but the only problem is the block is out of and older car. I wanna know is will it work in my truck. I want to keep it emmisions legal ,so i cant convert over to carb. Really I wanna know if my intake will bolt up and work on this older block. I dont mind changing parts to make it work. if it helps the truck is non-MAS air. Thanks for the help.
The intake should be good. How much older is it? See if you can get the casting number for the block. It's under the starter. If it's a mid 70's-mid 80's it not going to have very good heads. You might not gain a thing. Get those numbers. The other thing to look at is the EGR. Might be in the heads might not.
Make sure the block is a roller cam block. They strarted to be manufactured from the mid eighties on. You might want to rebuild your current engine with the help of a [U]good local rebuild shop. I have also seen real horrer stories from folks who bought rebuilds thru pep boys, advance & other chain store auto parts places. I hear Jasper & Ford remanufacturers are good.
Either rebuild the engine you have now (the 94 302), or get a good running used or rebuildable 88 up 302 engine and put in there. As a 1974 302, it may seem simple at first, but once you get going, you will be changine this that this that and this, and the chain reaction will began to make you sick, just too much difference in a 94 Versus a 74
yeah good news i found an 88 motor i didnt get it yet but i prolly will end up get the ol beast thanks for your help bt the way anyone want an 1974 302 no just kiddin
