A couple of other quick Newbie questions
As I said in an earlier thread, I just picked up my new (used) X a few days ago. So I'm new to Ford Trucks, New to the Expy, and New to FTE. I really like the truck though and have been spending all my spare time reading all I can find about my new ride. Thanks for all the valuable info that you guys put out there for Newbies like me to learn from.
In 2000 did all 4X4 models come with A4WD or was that an option?
I've got the 3.55 rear axle. What other axle options were available in '00? and with that axle, 4X4, 17" tires and 5.4L, what is my towing capacity?
Regarding the Ford and Expedition emblems on the rear lid and front fenders, if I'm able to get those off, are there holes in the sheetmetal behind them?
When I cranked the truck this morning, the oil gauge on the dash wasn't operating and the oil temp light next to it was on. I turned the truck off, checked the oil (which was fine) and then cranked the truck again and the gauge was working and the light was off. What's up with that?
Lastly, regarding exhaust, I'm interested in making some change to the exhaust (probably just a new muffler) for the sole reason of getting a deeper exhaust 'growl' / 'burble' at the tailpipe. I'd like it to be noticeable at idle and lower RPM but I don't wan't it to 'drone' inside the cabin at highway speeds. I also don't want it to sound like straight pipes coming down the road. In other words, I'd like a noticeable sound improvement at the tailpipe, maybe somewhat noticeable from <50' away, with as little noise increase inside the cabin and I don't want to wake the neighbors. I don't care anything about horsepower increase, but a MPG benefit would be teriffic.
Thanks so much for the info. Sorry for all the questions, any answers at all will be greatly appreciated.
From what I've been able to glean, all 4x4 expys came a4wd there is a thread on here somewhere about how to disable it. Haven't tried it though. Don't have any info or knowledge about your other questions
