Installing the 302

Well ,A lot has happened since I dragged home the nailhead powered '40 1 1/2 ton last month.Pulled the knocking buick out yesterday, with it's 1 speed dynaflow trans attached.Friend put it on his favorite jalopy site and next day a guy offers me 350. and he's driving 6 hrs to get it.says he now owns 51 buick nailhead engines.(and I thought I was losing it!)Today after work my buddy and I pulled the 302 from free donor truck. Here are my observations and some questions.....That is one deep dish oil pan. Will it clear the crossmember?Ive seen photos of some major cutting, but with the big truck, seems like room. How to relocate the oil filter,do I use a remote location kit, does it have a plate that screws on .? The flathead mounts are up front, but the 302 mounts are near the middle of the block.Should I buy or build new mounts keeping the central block location and bolt to frame there, or cantelever some angle forward from the bolt holes at existing mounts and reach up to the holes in the existing front crossmember.? JC Whitney has mounts to install a 302 into any frame width,as another option. What have you guys done or seen that was sucessful? Is there a standard way of doing this? The last question is clutch linkage. Since it had an automatic and I'm goin T-18 ( the brakes are already pendullum pedal type) I have to hook up clutch linkage. Some good stuff from donor truck with 3 sp OR shoud I go hydraulic? anyone done this? Junkyard parts or aftermarket retro-kit available?.... Dazed and Confused GB

GB, as I said before have a look at the motor mounts in my Gallery that I used on my 289. Simple, strong and easy to fabricate. Go to the Kugle site and check out the clutch arms that they have with the slave cylinder, slick as s**t to install. You need a rear sump oil pan from a 302 PICKUP TRUCK 72 - 82, check out the clutch linkage, bell housing and standard trans on it too. Use a small filter to keep out of trouble. Rear drop exhaust manifolds should also be on your shopping list when you go to the bone yard. Good luck.
