Hi everyone. Just got my truck a month ago and can't complain about anything except for the terrible audio system. Right now, it's got a Pioneer DEH-1500 and worn out factory speakers. I have a Kenwood KDC-X817 I plan on swapping in whenever I have a free day, but that still won't make it sound any better since the speakers are so bad. I don't know anything about what's good or not when it comes to this sort of thing so I was wondering what you all would get if you were in my position. Now, I don't want subs or anything like that, just something that'll fit in the stock slots but give a nice clear sound when I turn it up a little bit. With Christmas and pay day coming up I should have about $200-$250 for this little project. Any help you guys could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Online is the best alot cheaper. I bought a pair of 6x8 infinity components with the crossover and tweeter and a pair of infinity coaxles 6x8s for 180 dollars shipped to my door. Infinitys are really crisp sounding speakers. If you get a set of components they sound the best because you can mount the tweeter to your listening level. I bought my set at www.sounddomain.com. They beat prices of other online retailers. Thats what I did I filled out a online form stating where I seen the better deal and then they beat it.
I have a 2004 F-150 supercrew and decided to upgrade the sound. In the past I have always gone with MB Quartz and they will sound great for you. HOWEVER, I have changed over to a little known company called CDT Audio. I have their "bottom of the line" component system (CL-61) and they sound way better than most upper end speakers. I payed just under $300, but thezeb.com has a huge deal on them for $150. You never find better speakers for this price! They have silk tweeters which are becoming rare and the crossover is amazing! These speakers sound better than any other I've ever heard.
