I have a strange one for ya, any ideas would be appreciated. I tow a fifth wheel with my PS. It's not real big, 25ft, around 7K lbs. I have noticed the last few times out that the tranny will pee fluid out the inspection plate weep hole after a long haul and the tranny has heated up past the 180 mark (where it never exceeds) and only in reverse! I took it in to a shop to have them look it over, but they could not replicate the leak even after driving. The fluid level never dropped that low either. Very strange one...
I have a 2000 that does the same thing after a hard run from a dead stop, or in stop and go traffic. mine wont blow fluid until it hits 210 on my gauge, if i get on the highway and get up to speed with the torque converter locked my temp will drop to 150 in a mile or so. also after it blows fluid the fluid gets a little darker and burnt smelling. I am pretty sure My torque converter is slipping and boiling the fluid causing the pressure to escape through the front seal on the trans. I have talked to a couple of people who agree. but Quite a few trans shops have told me its because the trans is going out, I think they just say that to drum up buisness though. I only have 30,000 on the trans, and i have dropped the pan a couple times to look for debris and clutch material and found nothing, and my transmission shifts great I have a precision industries converter waiting to be put in, hopefully this sunday. check your fluid and see if it is burnt, if it is change it right away, i have changed mine three times since august. I have seen many posts about people overheating thier transmissions while backing up trailers. most of the time the fluid comes out the trans vent on top of the bellhousing when the trans overheats, but i have seen a few posts where it comes out the inspection cover.

My dad’s truck started out doing what your guy’s truck is doing until finally one day it blew the front pump seal and lost all the oil while pulling a trailer. The guy that fixed it for him said it was a bad torque converter. I don’t know if this helps but you may want to research further.
