dunlop tire problem
I have the dunlop Rover A/T tires on my 99 ford f250 crew cab. I towed about 9000 pounds yesterday and it was really squirly on the tires. It was even squirly with no weight in the trailer at 3500 pounds. What I would like to know is has anyone else had this problem with these tires. My old BF goodrich tires were way better then these towing and they were worn down pretty good. Im thinking its a sidewall problem with these tires. Its an 8 ply tire but maybe the Goodrich tires have a stronger sidewall on them. The truck felt like the *** end was loose like the tires sidewall was bending side to side. Any info will help. thanks

there are lots of factors. what was TP on truck, how big are the tires? what was the TP on the trailer? was the trailers weight biased to the front or back? was it windy? was it an old crapy road? has your truck been knocked out of allignment since the last set of tires? Sometimes a new set of tires will feel squirly because they have not worn into the miss-alligned pattern that your old ones were in, so if your old tires were unevenly worn and you did not allign the truck after switching the lack of allignment will feel more pronounced. with that light of a load a 265/75 D should do just fine as long as there is adequade and even TP all around.

I experienced the same problem with my 97 psd while pulling 26' camp trl. I was blaming the tires which were Les Schwab. TP was 55 front and 70 back. The manager at Schwab explalined a weight formula (which I can't repeat) and suggested I lower pressure to 50 front and 40 back. Took care of the wondering. Something about the tire giving a total foot print. I thought I was being a good boy by using the TP that is on the VIN sticker information. It was odd that there was no tread in the center of my tires on the back but alot of tread on the edges of the tires. Lack of rotation and over inflation. Who'd of thunk it. Good Luck.
