Rubbing/Grinding In Wheels?

I posted something similar to this in another thread but I don't think it got much visibility so I am starting a new thread. Hopefully someone can help me with this.

When starting my truck after it has been sitting either overnight or after work is over I am getting what feels like a short 1-2 second rubbing or dull grinding sensation from the wheels. At first I thought it was the tire slipping on the paint of the parking lot but is not. Further, it only seems to happen when I turn to the right after putting the truck in gear moving forward. Then, it will not do it again until the next time I start the truck and drive it cold.

Could this be something that is common in 4x4's? I have never had a truck before this one so not sure if its normal. Its so small of an issue, but it happens like clock work. Any ideas? I am completely puzzled by it and am not sure if its worth the hassle of trying to duplicate the problemh for the dealer.

Thanks,

T

Do you have the limited-slip rear axle? I read in my owners manual that some noise when starting off making a turn to the right or left is normal. I've never heard it in my '05 with the 3.73 LS though.

I do have LS. I would have never thought to check the manual.. I hope its as simple as that. Still wonder if anyone else has noticed it.

I have noticed my rotors flash over with light rust when truck sits overnite...and makes a mild grinding noise ( especially the rear ones )after I first move it in the morning....drove me nuts until I figured it out...my daughters mazda 3 will make the same noise and has the same rust ...and it lasts about 3 or 4 wheel revolutions and goes away.....

Wheel grind

I have a 2004 Screw 4X2 XLT.
Sometimes when I make a right hand turn my steering wheel stops for a split second like the wheel is hitting something. It then "loosens up" and turns as far as needed. I also have the vibration problem. I like my truck but all these problems are ruining this great truck. If the steering wheel should lock up in an emergery it could be a major problem. I'm not a Ford basher by any means I have bought or leased 10 different Ford trucks in the past 10 years. But just because you sell almost 1 million trucks in 1 year doesnt mean you dont need to address problems with a small percentage of them.
