Looking at getting into the transport business, Any help?

Bought a third Powerstroke diesel for this, now have two trailers. I got it off of a guy in INDIANA that imports diesels from Texas, and am supposed to begin hauling for him in the VERY near future. I need to get some backloads from the great lakes area to Texas. Autos preferred, goods possible. Where should I look? Any advice on how to get this thing going so that i know that I wont fail?
Thanks for any and all help in advance

Todd

First thing you need is either your own ICC MC numbers, or to be leased to a company with existing numbers. The insurance requirements are astronomical, and it takes some time to get your authority. Once that is all in place, you need you fuel tax permit, and an apportioned tag. Then you can look for freight from freight brokers by calling them, or by using any number of load boards in truck stops or online. Don't expect to get a good load every time. Consider yourself lucky to break even on backhaul freight, and don't tell brokers you are using it as backhaul, the rates tend to drop if you do.
