odometer

how do the 03 expys keep track of mileage after 99,999.99 if it only goes that far and not into the 100,000's

Mine goes into the 100K range. I actually think it's Federally mandated these days.

Even my '97 F250 properly displays the 189,647.2 miles that are on it.

on the digital display are only 6 places and it looks like this xx,xxx.xx to the left of the first number it only has 2 words cal and trip no other digit am i missing something here

Your odometer measures to the 1/100th of a mile? That's what you're indicating by putting two decimal places to the right (xx,xxx.xx)

I think a better guess is that your odometer is more like this: xxx,xxx.x

This will keep you good unless you cross the one million-mile barrier.

thanks guys i was looking at it wrong being that the truck is at 18,000 shouldn't there be a 0 digit before the one like 018234.6 instead it looks like 18234.6

You have a message center type display, unlike the older Expeditions with a static digital display for odometer. It can call up the additional digits on demand as necessary. So though you dont see the added digit now, you will if and when you hit 100K
