47 leak

My 47's tank has a leak .Is the tank replaceable or repairable Its under the seat ,can it be relocated? Fumey

It certainly can be relocated. Might need to spend a couple hundred bucks, but you can put a new tank back under the bed. That is a very popular modification to get the gas smell out of the cab. Do you know why the tank is leaking? If the problem is not rust related then you might be able to have the tank repaired, of course this is dangerous because of the fumes. If it rust realted, then the best thing is to look for a new tank...I have seen some on eBay recently.

I like the under bed option,there's not a lot of closet space in these. Can you point me in the right direction in who might carry what I need ? By the way,your icon looks just like the front of my 47 stakebed.

Street rod shops might have the tank you'd want. There is a place in southern Cal called Fat Fendered that carrys a universal tank for under bed mount, seen their ads in some of the classic truck mags. Do a search for them online, see what they might provide. Also, there used to be an article on this site, in the tech stuff about installing a classic Mustang tank in place of cab mounted tanks. The icon is actually from the cover of an original '46 dealer brochure I have.
