I have a 1999 Ranger XLT 4X2 ext cab. 3.o V-6 with a 4sp automatic.
I was having what was thought to be rear end noise, The differential was rebuilt and some noise was still there at 35 - 50 MPH, There was no noise at any other speed. The drive train shop who did the rearend isoloated it to the transmission. I went to Aamco.They did a teardown only to find that there were no rear Planet Bearings.
I bought the truck used at 37000 miles it now has 47000. I bought a extended warranty thank god but they will not pay for the missing planet bearing and the damadge caused by them not being there.
My part of the bill is $941.00
I called FORD Customer Care.There is no record of my truck ever being to a FORD Dealer for reapir under FORD Warranty. They said sorry it's out of warranty. I feel FORD should fix this since it was like that from the factory. Does any one know who I need to contact to perhaps get some help from ford.

 

I can feel your pain . I'm guessing you might try contacting the Ford Headquarters guessing in Detroit. Thats the only thing I can think of at the moment. Sorry I can't be of anymore help than that. Bob (ranger99)
