Where can I find a 2.9 engine for '90 ranger

I think my ranger is dead. It started running slower and slower on my way to work one morning. The oil pressure dropped to zero It stalled and would not even turn the engine. I had assumed it seized. I pushed it into a parking spot and went to work. After worked I tried to turn it over and it started and oil pressure guage went up. I shut it down anyway and had it towed home. I drained the oil and found no metal. I took off the oil pan and found no metal in the bottom of the pan. One thing I did find was the oil pickup screen was completely blocked with somehting that looked like anti-seize compund. I have not checked the bearings yet but visually they look okay. Does anyone have any ideas on this.

Ford's are notorious for clogged oil pickup screens. To be safe you should replace the oil pump/pickup and go from there. I speak from experience.

I agree with cubster, you might think about replacing the oil pump to.
