A/C to Heat Cutoff......

Does anyone know if there is a way around the 50* cut off for the A/C when you want to use floor heat? I have a 97 XLT and I read in the manual that you can't use anything but the upper face air flow when using the heater or else its going to be using the A/C compressor as well. The manual said that under 50* the floor, face/floor and face air flows all use the A/C compressor. Is there anyway around this? Sometimes I like to have warm feet when its above 50* as well but I don't want the bad gas mileage with running the A/C compressor when I don't need too.

Anyone? Or does everyone just cruise around with the A/C pump on when they want heat on their feet?

The easiest way to bypass this is to get into the ground side circuit and put a switch where you can control the gound causing compressor to work only when you want it.
