Acting like it is out of fuel

I have a 04 SD 6.0 PSD. Build date is 11/03. When I recieved it new in 12/03 it would act like it was out of fuel with 3/8ths of a tank.

Took it to the dealer. They insisted there was no problem but it stopped happening. I think they flashed it but they said they did not. It was reflashed in june 04.

Now there is 12,000 miles on it. It started acting like it was starving for fuel again (sputtering and stalling) this time with 5/8 tank full. The engine was not fully warm when it did it.

Any suggestions?

I would wonder about wire chafing.

Where would I check for wire chafing?

EBP sensor? Would the dealer find that on a diagnostic check?

Could be the waste gate solenoid.

I doubt it since the 6.0 turbo doesn't have a waste gate. However, you might be referring to the VGT (variable geometry turbo). Best thing to do is make sure you get it to a good diesel tech.
