theft light on engine won't restart

theft light on engine won't restart
the engine just died while i was driving, fortuantely i was in a neighborhood and not the highway. when i tried to restart the engine the theft light blinks. could it be the key went bad????

I would go to the stealership and get a new key, if you have a '97 or '98 the keys is right around $20 and can be programmed by your ignition. Anything newer and has to be programmed by the dealer for around $100. If not that sounds like a computer problem. I can't search the forums either today!

in the top of the GC forum i think is a procedure to make google search only fte, not the whole web. i think it goes something like this.. "expedition keys site:ford-trucks.com" minus the quotes. might look for that post, it is a sticky, to make sure that is how it goes
