One thing to note is that the front flares are part of the front, lower bumper assembly. If you want 'em you gotta qet the whole deal. Meaning: ALL the lower plastic has to be changed over to the new style.
I would love to know more about these flares. If you do get them please post pics. Flares seem to be a hard to find item for me. I can't find anything similar in appearance to the stock (EB) setup.
I know the EB and '04 XLT-sport fender flares are part of the lower moulding and bumpers--but these say they are for the 03-04 XLT. It is not sold as a collision repair part but as an accessory for 03-05 XLT. I just can't find a picture anywhere. In this link the pictures are on an older model http://www.cheapfordparts.com/produc...roducts_id/242. (I can't seem to get the link to work as a link--you can cut and paste). It also looks like they were just added to the catalog in September so maybe they just have not updated the picture yet. They cost about $300 and I can't just throw that much down with a hope that they will match. Is the titanium color supposed to be the same as the plain plastic on my 2003 XLT? I think the description at ford calls the trim medium titanium or something similar.
Thanks,
Brett
Uh oh...I'm thinkin' about somethin' completely different... Not the accessory flares but the new stock "flares". I think the color threw me. I automatically started thinking of the new body mouldings.
I'll see if I can find a picture of what you must be talking about.
Where did you pick your flares up at? From a dealer or the cheapfordpart web site?
Would like to get a set for my 04 XLT. I think the wheel openinings will take a beating without them. are your the med. dark platinum? also do you know the color code for the paint? Great pictures convinced me that is the way to go.
Thanks for the pics General124. They look great. Do they have the same semi-rough texture as the original pieces? Would you mind posting a pic of the whole truck? I would like to see how they look while looking at the whole vehicle. Thanks again for sharing.
Brett
Thanks too to the General for posting the pics of his flares. I too was unsure if they were what I was looking for, but after seeing the General's pics, I was inspired and bought a set from my local dealer. As the General said, the platinum was not a perfect color match to the rest of the cladding, however, it was close enough for my liking and i just installed them as they were. I think they look great! Thanks General.
Palmer, the texture of the fenderflares is a little smoother than the cladding so i made sure that the paint applied was of MATTE-finish (not too flat and not too glossy).
BLK04XLT, nice to know you have yours intalled. Can you post pic of your XLT?
