Hi guys ! Just finishing up my new truck project. Well hopefully in 3 weeks or less. I'm hoping to get a few good ideas from some of you. The truck is a 50 Ford wrecker. With almost everything 50s except for the running gear, its a 460 with a 4 speed granny and 2 speed rear. Its not a home made unit. Its a factory Holmes unit. Dual winch and split booms. ( huge). Kind of heavy duty. Anyway enough of that.
I am plannig on keeping the truck looking like it did in the 50s. Being thats its not for a wrecker business, just personal use. I like to add something on the sides of it. Like on the doors, hood and sides.
Like one thought was to put Gomer's Wrecker Service, with a logo like the old mobile gas station one. It was a red horse flying with wings. Then make up a crazy towns name . Also add a phone number like BR-842 Something like it would of looked like in a small rural town in the 50s. I would be grateful when you get a chance if you come up with any ideas. If you would send them to me in here or by message or email. Or if you happen to run across any pictures of old wreckers I like to see them. they dont have to be a ford. If you like for me to post what I receive,so maybe you can pick the best. That might be possible if FTE will let me. THANKS !!!
Thanks Dennis for the reply. But makin it is not it. I do have a few programs on my computer, even adobe. Mostlikey after I get something down,I can draw it out. I was hoping to get a few ideas on a design and a catchy name, and town name. Thanks !!!!
Try Me : Happy Hooker is one of the most common in all of North America and
there is one in most communities , even up here in Canada .
The name you choose could be anything you find appropriare for your home town or geographic area that would highlight the age of your old brute but something as simple as Bud's Towing would work as most tow trucks of that era were owned by private garage service stations .
A good logo for something with the grunt power of your project could be an old
bull leaning forward and blowing steam from the nostrils as if in a hard pull .
The 50's were the dawning of the dial phone in most areas and came with numbers like "Riverside-6- 392 " etc .
Problem is you can't use that Red Winged horse due to copyright infringements.
Just modify the logo a touch, like reduce the number of feather lines or remove the gaps between the hoof and leg. Subtle changes like that can skirt most copyright rules.
