Looked at a used 2001 Navigator. Has 49,000 and they're asking $23,500. Couldn't see too much since it was dark, but from what I could see, it was nice. Consumer Reports doesn't rate this model very good. Is it true that all Navigators must run premium gas? How does everyone else feel about the Navigator??
Personally, I'd love to have one - I like the looks of the front clip...I toyed with the thought of changing the front of my 98 Expy to a Navi front end but it would be WAY too cost prohibitive.
Homer could probably answer any reliability concerns or if ALL Navigators must run premium fuel. I'm guessing that requirement is because of the 32V engine (if it has one). But that is just my guess...
Im pretty sure they run on premium with the 32 valve engine. Just pop the fuel door and see what the label says.
Reliability wise I have no knowledge of since I work at a Ford dealer and we dont see too many Navigators, but I would suspect they are pretty much on par with the Expedition overall. Just more expensive to repair since they have so many unique Navigator only parts and lower production numbers.
