Attention : Air Bag Concerns ? Don't Wait ...Just get it Fixed!
I was trying to be cheap and "wait" for a fix for my 95 aerostar sport to hopefully appear on this forum.
Unfortunately ,On Monday my wife was broad-sided by an idiot who ran a red light(thank god a cop was across the street watching the whole thing, because the guy then tried to run) and the airbag did not fire
The driver front corner was hit, right where the sensor is located.
Thank goodness she is okay and it may not be a bad thing that the bag did not fire, because usually it causes serious bruising around the face, and she got off with a bump on the arm.
*Note: the Aerostar otherwise held up pretty well, and it is repairable.
So don't delay....Get it Fixed by a Reputable Place.
If you're not sitting properly behind the wheel, and the bag goes off, you could be seriously injured or worse.

From what I understand, if the light is going off, more than likely the airbag will not deploy in an accident.
The gentlemen in question appear to be waiting on taking it to a qualified shop to have the airbag problems properly diagnosed, and hoping it might be something the owner can fix.
I just think that with the airbag being an possible life saver in an accident,I do not think that they should wait, because with my experience, almost all airbag problems cannot be fixed unless the owner possesses the proper diagnosing equipment, and if they did have the proper tools, they more than likely would not be posting for suggestions.
By the way Dennis, how long have you had that truck? It is nice to see one that has retained alot of the originality with age.
Thanks, and sorry for the grief....
I try to show respect by asking instead of assuming.
I need the feedback to determine the situation, before going ahead and reacting.
The Truck ?
Original owner!
I bought it with .8km on it.
The guy at the dealership drove it to gas pump and parked it in the back lot,out of site.
It arrived on the lot May 14th-78 I was immediately called by my friend's Uncle(New Truck Manager)to come have a look.
(It was also parked out of site)
I was up to Red Deer to see it on the 18th & paid for it May 29th.
I just phoned Ford Canada this morning for another copy of my build sheet, the other one got water soaked and crumbled into shreds of paper.
I also requested the build sheet on my 68 Mustang too, They only go back to 67 so getting the IMPORTANT sheet for my 64 1/2 was out of the question.

I just wonder how many people have eaten pens or coke bottles by unfortunately having the airbag go off at exactly the wrong time. There should be a warning to not hold stuff in your mouth when seated in front of an airbag. Frankly I think the things are a nuissance, make for awkward steering wheels, add unnecessary cost to a car, and don't really do a whole lot more than could be achieved with a good five-point harness. Just my opinion.
