85 6.9 how much can i tow??

hey guys, need some help. i don't have an owners manual and i've looked at a ton of posts but nobody seems to have info on or own an older 6.9, and if they do they haven't mentioned on max tow weight. i'm looking at getting a 40+ foot trailer to pull 2 race cars. curios how much can my truck pull, i know the axle ratio matters but i don't know what i have. either if you can give me ratings for most axles or give me a way to find out what axle i have that'd be great thanks guys

Man that is a lot of trailer! I am guessing that it is inclosed? That would be pushing a lot of wind. I would hope your truck has a manual with a granny, going to be hard to get that load moving. As far as can you pull that much weight, as long as you have a good tranny the truck will move it, how slow you will be going up hills is another question, as for the truck being weighted that high, dream on.

i have a 87 F350 with a 6.9 4 speed, ive pulled a 22 foot enclosed trailer with 1500 gallons of water, a 6 cylinder diesel power motor, 4 water pumps, and other stuff, im guessing close to 18,000-20,000 pounds and it pulled hard and my pump is even turned up, 60mph was the max. so that gives you an idea of what a 6.9 can do.
