i searched but did not see any threads discussing this idea anywhere
anyone thought of turning the front cab of a bronc to a T-top or put a large sunroof in?
the way the interior part of the roof looks it would be just right to have two removable panels that would come all the way to the door frame, a couple of clips on the inside that hold it down tight, some weatherstripping and presto riding a little bit more convertable
also might add a little extra support in the middle section for structural strength
only thing is there is no room for failure and it could be awfully scarry cutting into the top of my baby like that
Another item of thought...stability. The Bronco was design the way it is for a reason. Cutting the top for t-tops would take away some integrity of the top. I noticed a little bit more "shake" when I removed my top, (back), but then again, I also had alot of rust. I cured this with a cross bar in the back of the cargo area the I could bolt right in when I removed the top. Now granted it is a fiberglass top, but it still does add some strength. You may want to check with some local custom shops and see that they have to say about t-tops since it will be cutting alot of the roof away. As for a sunroof, depending on just how big of a sunroof you put in would make a difference how how it affects the ride.
I cut a big hole in my 78, it was cool at first now I wish I had not. I trimed it out and it looks ok, but now I wished I had done something different. You can add a sunroof and the frame of the sunroof will help with the structure issues. I almost never have the top on and use a bikini top now. I may try to do some kind of T tops after I get a roll bar in.
