do you think if i get a reg-cab f-150 2004, well would resale be worse on a reg-cab?? i was just wondering about this for down- the -road...... i do notice they seem to stay around longer on the lots..............
I have to agree with khendrix. I haven't seen may on the road either. If your looking at resale value down the road, IMO get at least a SuperCab. If you haven't owned one you will more than likely never go back to a reg cab.
Considering that you pay less for a regular cab to begin with, on a percentage basis, I would guess that the resale value would be comparable to the larger cabs. Many people who purchase a truck mainly for work or utility purposes often prefer a reg cab with an 8' bed.
This is a relative issue-meaning #1...that resale value won't be as much on the reg. cab but then it won't cost you as much. If you want more resale for a scab then pay more for the scab when you buy it. #2... If you need the scab then buy it, if you only need the reg cab buy it. You will be awarded on resale, for whatever you buy accordingly. It just makes sense doesn"t it. The F-150 reg. cab has the advantage over the competition as far as behind the seat space is concerned
From what I have seen here the regular cabs, when you can find one, are almost as much as the SCREW. If you take into account the new cost difference, then they are probably selling at a higher percentage of new price.
I just looked at all the 97 to 03 F150s in the Truck Trader Online this morning, and it seems the SCAB is selling for the same, if not more than the SCREW, and there are a lot more used SCREWs for sale. I can only guess it's because the SCREW is a nice family truck, but the short bed leaves something to be desired when trying to haul things.
I have really been suprised at how much the 97-98 SCABs are selling for, even with very high miles.
Now I have a question.
Last night I looked at a 97 F150 XLT 4X4 reg. cab. with 8' bed. It has the 60/40 split front seats, gauge cluster, AC, PS, PW, PLocks, cruise, tilt, power mirrors, sliding rear window, keyless remote, thieft alarm, am-fm cassette, tow package, factory bed liner, 4.6 Romeo engine, 4R70 trans, 3.55 rear axle, the cast spoke wheels I like, good Michelin tires, and a new battery. Always serviced by Ford on a regular basis.
Now here is the topper. It only has 36k actual one owner miles. It has always been garaged, and looks like new inside and out. The tires are the factory replacements for the Firestones that came on the truck. It is all original, except for an aluminum camper cover painted to match the truck. There are only a very few small scratches on it. It runs and drives great, and with the 3.55s, it has a lot of power, more than my T-Bird with the 4.6.
The owner was retired when he bought it. He occasionally towed his pontoon boat to the river, which is only a few miles away. It went to Florida on a few trips. Other than that it sat in the garage. He died last year, and his wife is selling it and her house to move into a townhome.
We talked price, and I'm positive I can get it for $8500.00, she said as much when I was leaving.
Would you take it? Let me know of any problems with this combination of options that I might not be aware of.
I also posted this question in the 97-03 forum to get as much feedback as possible.
Thanks

I was told recently that the 04 Reg (New body) were only produced in mid to late 03. They under produced in a gamble that people who normaly buy Reg cab do so for economic reasons or for work trucks. Since they still have the old body for sale most people would buy the cheaper of the two.(the old body) I was told I would see more of the new body Reg Cab as soon as they run out of the old body. I am very happy with my new body reg cab. The extra space is why I bought mine.
hey there catoosa.......if i aint wrong, that is a claremore tag on front??! that is where i am looking at a red reg-cab....do u like that dealership?....
Broncojohn--new style '04 reg cabs were not limited to any certain months. They have been making them along with all the other models from day one. Mine was built 03/04.
regular cabs are a lot cheper to buy used. my dad needed a cheap truck to get back and forth to work but wanted a supercab so he could pick up my little sister and cousins from school. he brought a tacoma and getting the extra cab made it about 7,500 when he could have gotten a regular for around 4500.
i say get whatever you need it for and use it as a truck and get your moneys worth and the small difference when you do go to sell it wouldn't matter too much.
Orangebanzai-The dealership is very professional. It was a pleasent experiance I got what I needed on trade and bought x-plan. Great people, I would recommend a salesman but mine finished his degree and found other employment. The service Dept, is quick to get into and easy to work with. I had some problems in the begining and they were quick to give me a loaner and had my truck back to me the day the parts came in. I had a CPU problem which shut down a couple of ignition coils, after that the truck has run flawless.
thanks broncojohn, matter of fact i am headed that way tomorrow....looks like you got the same interior and blicker mirrors as on the one i am looking at....man that cherokee casino is boomin aint it..............
