Cleaning the seats.

Anyone had any luck cleaning the seats? I have the cloth grey seats and they are filthy. Even water stains them. What products have you used and what works best? What products do I need to avoid?

I am interested in replies as well...I sprayed Scotchguard on mine when they were semi-new and I cover the drivers seat with a towel when I take it to work. I work in a metal fab shop so it would be pretty trashed if I didnt. Despite the scotchguard and towel I still have a few spots. Two tone flint cloth.

Im scared to use anything right now until I have heard what works on these 2004 seats. There are a couple of stains from ice cream on my seats. Theyre about the size of a pencil eraser, but I scrubbed them HARD with wet rag and it did nothing.
Even sweat on my arms stains the seats and arm rest.

I want to know what really works before I try anything. The manual says to use some MotorCraft crap. I might if I have to.

I have the tan cloth interior and I have used my Bissell cleaner after I dumped a coffee mocha all over the console and the seat and it cleaned it right up. It does say in the owners manual not to soak the seat though. I soaked the console and when it dried I had rings on the edges. The second time, I just went over it once and it looks like brand new.

Don't laugh or say this writer has a screw loose, but on spots of all kinds I use paint thinner works great, does not hurt the fabric. Use it on my 04 and used it on my 98, no problems.. Also how did I find out to use it? from two of my local ford dealers, that's what they always use, (cloth seats) will ruin leather..

so i take it, no one uses scotch-gard, nor does ford apply it to the cloth seats etc??? i noticed on a test-drive that the grey two-tone seat already had some whitish marks, looked like dried sweat-salt, truck only had 30 miles on it...man, i dont know, if scotch-gard doesnt work, well helllllllllllll !

I must be getting old, my mind is going..I said in an above post that myself and our local Ford dealers used Paint thinner to clean spots on cloth seats..Well I wanted to clean a spot yesterday got out the can and said, "you dummy" it's not paint thinner it is LACQUER THINNER, and I knew this..Called my dealer he said Lacquer was the correct one to use, evaporates quickly less chance of discoloration.. I have never had any discoloration..Lacquer NOT paint thinner..
