towing advice

I am currently in the market for a 18-22 foot travel trailer, which I'll pulling with my 1997 Expy 5.4 EB with towing package. The trailers all seem to have electric brakes. Any advice or recommendations on what electric brake contols are better than others. Is inertia or time sensitive the perfered control. Also would probably install the unit myself, any recommendations for plug and play units.

I pull a 21' TT with my '99 (5.4L, tow package) and the truck handles it well. I have a Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller. Installation was very easy. Basically I bought the controller and the adapter (cable that runs from the controller to the plug located under the dash) and plugged everything up and it worked perfectly. Here is a picture that shows the plug under the dash. Cost for the controller and cable was about $100. Another controller that alot of people recommend is the Jordan Ultima 2000.

BTW, I mounted my controller in the cubby hole located under the steering wheel just to the right. It fits really good there, but I do hit my knee on it sometimes.

I was looking at the Prodigy, so it appears you just plug it into the gray plug under the dash (I always wondered what it was for) and that is it. Is there any additional wiring for a power source or fuses to protect the unit.
