Most people will tell you to spray WD-40 in the latch and work the door open/closed a few times to loosen the switch up and correct the problem. Personally, I don't think that is a good option because it's not a permanent fix. You can have new switches installed in the doors that will fix the issue. The switches are $10-$15 each. I tried everything on my '99 and finally disconnected the wires because it wouldn't go away. If I have to do it again on this '03 I'll just replace the switches and be done with it.
I had problems with the switch in the door latch, but that caused the dome light to stay on when the doors were closed. Is there another switch that causes the chime to come on?
Yes, there is a switch made into the tumbler of the ignition switch. When you put the key in,it grounds the system and turns the chime on when the door is open.To dissable it just pull the cover from around the ignition switch, and unplug the wire going to it,or clip it.be sure the ends don't touch ground or it will still chime.I think the wire is grey, but there is only one wire ran to the key tumbler anyway.By unhooking it at the key,it will still chime if you leave the headlights on.
