I have a 1995 Ranger with a 4 cyl. 2.3L engine and i want to put an exhaust on. I was looking at the Dynomax bolt on kit, which uses a super turbo muffler. I would just like to know if my truck will still sound like a truck and not a small import car. Also if anyone has any other good systems to use for a resonable price let me know. thanks
just do like i did on my 94' 2.3 (my brother also did this on his 95' 2.3 )replace the cat. with a stright peice of pipe and replace the muffler with a glasspack it only cost about $50 and increased gas mileage by about 2.5 mpg. you can do it in a couple of hours in your garage. and sounds GREAT!!

I think it would sound more like a wet fart to me. JMO.

Man...I can't stop laughing at that one.
If you want good sound I swear by a custom system using 2.5" pipe and a Flowmaster 40 series. It might cost a bit more than a pre-fabbed system but it is well worth it. My 2.5L with the setup I recommended has throaty growl coupled with my intake modification. My boss describes it as a "distinctive rumble". Just my $0.02, if it's even worth that.
I decided not to go with the dynomax and went with a magnaflow 6" muffler. I'm gonna just replace the original muffler and not the whole cat back. hope it sounds good.
Good idea ,I also went with the straight pipe and a dynomax and its loud enough to get you pulled over in MI. Soo unless you like cops and hate your neighbors I would go with the cat and hi-po exhaust.
i went with a flow master on my 96 2.3 and i can hear my wife coming 5 blocks away. she thinks she can sneak up on me but i keep telling her it sounds like a big mad cat rumble when it stretches out thr rpms. she hates it
