ds2 system in 86 F150 302. Have good voltage to module good voltage at coil tac side itermit during crank checked voltage at purple lead an orange lead at dist 8 volts showing voltage thru ground at dist. no spark to plugs new cap rotor new coil. did find lead from I on solonoied not hooked up to bat side of coil. hooked up but still no spark or spark at coil. Please help Used the digram from Franklin an retraced but all is correct cranks real good.
Do you have a battery charger? Or you could use the battery in the truck. Put 12 volts on the positive of the coil, put a short piece of wire on the negative(tach) side of the coil.
Take the negative of the battery or battery charger and touch the negative(tach) side of the coil. Everytime you touch the negative of the coil, and then take it off, you should get a spark out of the top of the coil that will jump to the negative coil terminal.
I wonder if the coil is bad? Here is a test I lifted off the internet.
IGNITION COIL TEST
The ignition coil must be diagnosed separately from the rest of the ignition system.
Primary resistance is measured between the two primary (low voltage) coil terminals, with the coil connector disconnected and the ignition switch off. Primary resistance should be 0.3-1.0Ù.
On Dura Spark ignitions, the secondary resistance is measured between the BATT and high voltage (secondary) terminals of the ignition coil with the ignition off, and the wiring from the coil disconnected. Secondary resistance must be 8,000-11,500Ù.
on primary I get below zero on secondary I get 3ooo. also when conected an ignition on I get 12 volts out of tower at no crank. Ive had about 4 different electrical probs this week an Im goining insane LOL thank you for all your good advice an diagrams
thanks for the info after checking further I found the magnetic pickup in dist lose from base just the magnet holding it in place I think repacing this will solve the problem
