HELP! - no main brake lights, turn signals in '99 E-150
Have a strange situation. Have read other posts, and any similar problems have suggested replacing or 'jiggling' connector on multi-function switch.
- Have NO brake lights or turn signals (However, 3rd brake light works fine)
- Have NO Hazard flashers (hazard relay does not operate/cycle)
- Have checked all fuses, relays, bulbs (front and rear) - all are OK
- Rear Running lamps, license plate lamp work OK
- Reverse Lights work OK
- Have tried replacing multi-function switch with a new one - NO CHANGE - does not affect any of the problems. Still no brake lights or T/S.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Need assistance IMMEDIATELY - this is a delivery vehicle and I need to get working ASAP.
Thanks!
Ken
Wow I have had the same problem and had traced it to my steering column. Does your E-150 have tilt steering wheel? If so move it up and down while pressing your brakes and have someone watching your break lamps. I found that the connector that attaches near the hazard switch was bad and allowed the wires to pull out from the plastic. It appears the wire harness in question is a little short and possibly the plastic connector has a problem. I can assure you I had the same trouble on my 2001 F-150 if I lowered my steering column my brake / turn / hazards quit working but I did have 3rd Brake light and reverse lamps. Good Luck hope this helps.
