Anyone try a "SuperChip" to get rid of the notorious "stumble" ???
I've been fighting the EGR "stumble" issue for the last 7 months now (been involved in a bunch of posts here about the "stumble) and I'm wondering if anyone has found/tried a SuperChip (re-programed PCM) to eliminate that nasty "stumble" alot of us are fighting ???
Yes, I've done the EGR restrictor plate thing, it works, but it's just a band-aid fix.
Also.....
Do you HAVE to run higher octane gas or can you run on "regular" (with of course not much or any performance increase) AND have the stumble issue resolved ???
I'm looking to eliminate that nasty stumble (willing to fork over the bucks) for a "chip" if it works.
I know, I know, I'll call them direct and ask.
Just wondering if anyone out there in the "real world" with a non-biased opinion has tried it with any success.
Anyone ????
Thanks,
Bob
Your EGR system makes your engine stumble because there is something wrong with one of the sensors that controll it, or possibly something wrong with the valve itself.
If there is something actually wrong with the system, I don't think a chip could "fix" it. I mean...... a chip can't fix a bad injector or a bad spark plug can it ? So I don't see how you could expect it to fix your EGR stumble.
If you want to check to see if the EGR system is causing your stumble, just disconnnect the vacume line that runs to it and plug it with a small bolt or screw. Your "check engine light" will come on, but its no big deal.
If the stumble goes away, then it's your EGR system, if it's still there ........ it's something else.
