Truck wants to die on cold start..

I can give it gas for a few seconds and it is fine. If not, it wants to hesitate and die. What should I look at first? The plugs, wires, fuel filter & air filter are all around 5 months old or less.

Thanks,
Vince

What year is your truck?
A dirty throttle body and IAC can cause that.
Another problem area is the throttle body gasket. it is between the throttle body and the intake manifold. They suck in which causes a vacuum leak.

Thanks for the reply. It is a 91 F150 with the I6. I will check the throttle body and the IAC. How can I tell if the IAC is bad??

Thanks again,
Vince

Usually the easiest way is just to remove it and clean it with some spray cleaner such as Carb Medic or throttle body cleaner. If it was a problem you'll probably notice that it's better right after you clean it.
