wiring and brake control question

I have used the search and only come up with pages and pages of similar stuff that dosent help.

I have a 2002 F250 SD crewcab 2 wheel drive. It appears to have a tranny cooler(auto) and it has the plugs under the back bumper. All I should need is a hitch reciever and a brake controller. I found a travel trailer my wife and I like. It is a 1988 KIT COMPANION 28' and there is a weight dis. setup with it. The trailer is over an hour away and I want to get my truck ready before I go pick it up.

The Trailer only has the older round bargeman style plug but my truck has that plug and a flat 4 hole plug. Is this going to be a problem. Are they spliced together so you can use either or are they made to work together?

Also, I want to buy the good Tekonsha controller but I really cant see the plug under the dash that it is supposed to plug into. Anybody have a pic of the location to help me see it?

Please....Any help or advice would be greatly apprecieted....Thanks

I know on my truck (it is a 2004 so may be a little different) the plug can be found under the dash to the right of the fuse box cover under the steering wheel. I just pulled that cover off, looked up to the right and there it was. I just bought the Tekonsha Prodigy and wired it up to the pigtail that came with my truck and was good to go. Very easy to do. Good luck.
