According to my Haynes manual, there should be a switch on the dash of your truck that you put the ignition key in & turn, to turn the pass. side air bag off.
AL.
oops my mistake my old mans '97 did not have a passeger side airbag, I remember now because he would smuggle things across the border in the opening behind the cover lol
there is a switch on mine downnear the bottom of the dash under the cliamte controls and radio. Not sure if yours is the same, but i thoughtall passenger air bags had to have a way to turn them off.
Ok, I feel stupid. Apparently there is NOT an airbag on the passenger side. Duh. I really appreciate the responses tho.
Now, can I tap you folks for another question?
We just bought this 97 Ranger 2 days ago. It only has 24,000 miles on it and where we live, we had to have an emissions sticker. So it passed the test with flying colors, but later in the day the check engine light came on. So we disconnected the battery to re-set it. No light on the way to work. However, the light came back on during the ride home.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks again,
Michelle
I just bought a scan tool at autozone for a hundred on sale. The only reason I bought it is because it's a half hour drive, and sometimes they moan and groan when they check it for you. Also it's a good idea to erase a code at least once. Sometimes a light is on for a momentary problem. The scanner will erase it, without erasing all the memory, like when you disconnect the battery. The scanner gives the code number, plus a second line telling you in english what area to look in.
They were good when they opened a few years ago. Now the Zone workers are getting rude, and treat the customers like an inconvienance. I was going to order a small sensor...they tried to charge me 6 bucks extra for shipping. It was cheaper to buy at Ford.
